Big Words No Clever
(Up to: Control In Academia Language )
Closely related to Language To Control Fears. Kind of an anti-node to Language And Intellect.
This is a kind of "Language to Control Knowledge Hierarchies". It is not necessarily to control Knowledge, but the structures that are in place to provide this knowledge. By inventing and controlling language alongside technical/philosophical/artistic advances, the subject matter itself becomes esoteric, limiting its take-up (and control) not by merit, or people's ability to grasp the fundamental concepts involved, but by their ability to gain access to, and remember definitions.
Often, an effect of this control is that it makes it easier to write some particular text, but also that it makes it harder to read it too. Words and thoughts are, in this sense, one-way. Easy ideas translated into hard words do not always produce easy understanding.
The technique is partially born out of the need to create new language to address new concepts. Else we would lapse into Crap Words territory.
