(Up to: LHistoire )

Most of my professional life, I have been a web-thingier. No-one really knows what to call a web-thingier, whether it is a programmer, a developer, an engineer, so I stick to the generic name. At least it avoids any kind of gender arguments.

I shall now embark upon a self-embracing, purely ego-inflationary quest to reveal my sordid history when it comes to my lurking presence behind the scenes of the internet. Oh joy.

  • The Walrus Cave [private]
I seem to remember this being done in Notepad and MS Paint (or maybe Deluxe Paint II) on a 286, way back in about 1995. I don't know why, but there was a fascination with walruses, and I remember the delight that filled me when I discovered references to such beasts in Alice Through the Looking Glass.

  • Laz's Big Fat QBasic Page [private]
This actually came about through a transcendence of the above walrus cave, as it filled with attempts to program, some time around 1996. This can still be seen, although I have no control over it, having lost the password. Maybe I should mirror it before it is lost from all time. Still, I am quite fond of the idea of knowingly owning a ghost site.

This actually gave birth to a spin-off software company, the badly-designed-for-small-screens'd Insanity Dreams, and Laz's Big Fat QBasic Mailing List, some of which is still around today, unfortunately.

[more to come. sorry.]
