I would like to free myself from the mindless pap that the mainstream news channels seem to consist of. (See "Giving Up On The Mainstream", but I hope to elucidate further at some point...)

But to do this, I need alternatives. This is an ever-growing list of channels that either:

• present the news in an alternative, more comprehensive and complete fashion; or
• offer a direct path to surrounding communication regarding the issues at hand

This way, I hope to reach news that wouldn't normally be presented to me (through social editing rather than just populist selection for economic reasons), as well as gain more of an understanding regarding the issues at hand.
