This comes partly out of the Types Of Altruism node. If Economics assumes that people are maximising individuals, what steps, if any, should be taken to address the idea of altruism in terms of society's benefits?

Questions, for instance...

• Should altruism be formally recognised and integrated into the design of markets?
• Should altruism be formally recognised and formally channeled into society alongside markets?
• If altruism is investigated and expressed more mathematically, would it have more "academic" grip amongst the people that implement such systems? Is altruism currently "ignored" because it is harder to express in simple equations?
