Points to note:
- I like wikis for their flexibility and ability to link previously-unconnected nodes together. Exmosis achieves some of this already.
- It'd be nice to not have to depend on a network, i.e. via laptops and/or via USB storage. A list of notes stored locally could be integrated with a remote, central server automatically at a later date.
- Some stuff I may want private, so some kind of access control would be good.
- Storing things on USB needs to be universal, i.e. text files that I can easily munge later - like extra-simplistic wiki style or something.
- Scanning pictures and indexing them somehow may be useful.
Pictures vs Electronica
This is a largish problem at the moment - the gap between the freedom and flexibility of paper, and the connectedness and manipulability of bits and bytes. Here are some things that go towards bridging that divide...
- Selwyn do a pad that tracks what you write/draw and creates a picture from it. Also seems to have some Linux support.
- PinPoint Digital do some scanning thing that OCRs and indexes documents.
- Electronic Paper?
