Some not-too-complex arguments for why we shouldn't have ID cards as currently proposed by the UK government.

• Do we want to pay 100 quid plus VAT for something that has a high probability of not working?
• Do we want a government that has more power over us than we have over it? What is a government for, exactly?
• Should everyday trust be between people, or be handed down to us by people in offices?
• Do we want a system that fails to hold people responsible when things go wrong?
